The particle size composition of aeolian sands from Lop Nur is dominated by sand(>63μm)which has an average content of 90.3%.The clay and silt fractions are small(2.4%and 7.3%,respectively),with a mean size of 140.4μm.Yardang SS layers are dominated by silty sand, with an average composition of 4.0%clay(<4μm),41.3%silt(4–63μm),and 54.8%sand(>63μm),with a mean size of 61.9μm.Yardang CS layers are dominated by silt, which consists of an average of18.9%clay(<4μm),78.2%silt(4–63μm),and 2.9%sand(>63μm),with mean size of 11.2μm(Table 1).
