Note:Bold type is significant at p<0.01.χ:magnetic susceptibility;χARM:mass-specific anhysteretic susceptibility;SIRM:saturation isothermal remanent magnetization;HIRM:―hard‖isothermal remanent magnetization,was defined as HIRM=0.5×(SIRM+IRM-300mT)

The influence of particle size on magnetic properties is important in many sedimentary environments, especially where sediments have not experienced significantly diagenetic alteration(Li et al.2017;Liu et al.2010;Oldfield 2013;Zhang and Yu 2003).As shown in Table 2,HIRM does not correlate with particle size in Zones A,B,and C.In Zone B,χ,SIRM,χARM,S-300mT,and SIRM/χcorrelate significantly with the sand fraction(>63μm)and correlate inversely with the fine fraction(i.e.<4μm and 4-63μm),which indicates that the magnetic minerals are concentrated mainly within the coarse particle fraction. In contrast, magnetic properties do not correlate with particle size in Zones A and C.
