《Feasibility of new ladle-treated Hadfield steel for mining purposes》
Macrohardness determinations were performed on samples from the four heats.We observed that the hardness of ladle-treated Hadfield steels H3 and H4 is similar to that of the conventional heat-treated Hadfield steel H2.By contrast,the hardness of the as-cast Hadfield steel is twofold higher than that of either the ladle-treated(H3)or heat-treated(H2)Hadfield steel,as given in Table 2.The highest macrohardness observed for the as-cast Hadfield steel(H1)is attributed to the formation of needle-network cementite as a secondary phase.
