Five experimental TRIP steels with different alloying contents were fabricated using high-purity raw materials in a25-kg-capacity induction furnace in the Foundry Lab of the Metallurgical Research Institute of Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo(México). The alloying elements were added directly into the crucible, and the steels were cast into 50 mm×50 mm×150 mm square section metallic molds. The chemical composition of the TRIP steels was obtained via atomic emission spectroscopy(AES)and is shown in Table 1,where the Ac1(temperature at which austenite begins to form during heating),Ac3(temperature at which transformation of ferrite to austenite is completed during heating),and Ms(the highest temperature at which transformation of austenite to martensite starts during rapid cooling)transformation temperatures were calculated using the JMatPro?v9.1.2 software.
