As shown in Table 1,the contamination rates of seeds disinfected with 0.1%mercuric chloride for 3,5and 8 min were 25%,15%,and 10%,respectively.The contamination rate decreased with the extension of the contact time,indicating that the disinfection effects can be improved with the increase of the contac time.The contact times of 10%sodium hypochlorite were 10,15,and 20 min,and the contamination rates of seeds were 40%,25%and 15%respectively presenting a disinfection trend similar to that of the0.1%mercuric chloride,but with inferior effects The germination of seeds takes a long period of time The orchid seeds were not germinated during the experiment;therefore,the death rate of these seeds was not measured.The optimal disinfection scheme for C.faberi seeds was 75%ethanol for 45 s+0.1%mercuric chloride for 8 min.
