In the six sedimentary samples, the main Fe–Ti oxide mineral is observed to be hematite, with a little bit of Cr and Ti and homogeneous texture, resembling the hematite that is present in the Huangling granite. Some Fe–Ti oxide mineral is observed to be hematite with inclusions of apatite, zircon or quartz, which is the common mineral assemblage found in granite. In samples 015,017,021,and 024,the Fe–Ti oxide minerals with exsolution textures are not observed to be V-titanomagnetite,but hematite intergrowths with other minerals(Tables 3–6),which differ from the V-titanomagnetite containing the exsolution textures that were observed in the Panzhihua vanadium titanomagnetite.Exsolution textures are the intergrowths of ilmenite, anatase, and hematite,as visible in sample 021,which are not observed in the Panzhihua vanadium titanomagnetite and Emeishan basalt. Therefore, the source rocks of samples 015,017,021,and 024 are believed to be the Huangling granite and not the Panzhihua vanadium titanomagnetite and Emeishan basalt.
