The DNS assay is most popular for the detection ofβ-glucosidase activity.However,it requires the reaction of sugar and DNS.To simplify the experimental procedure and simultaneously reduce the consumption of both sample and reagent,differentreaction mixture volumes(40 to 2000μL)were studied.As shown in Table 6,the activity of crude almondβ-glucosidase samples was similar at different volumes.The smallest volume of 40μL was sufficient to detectβ-glucosidase activity using the proposed assay.In addition,the proposed method was free from requiring a chromogenic reaction.Thus,the proposed method was shown to be a simpler,lower-cost,and more efficient method than the DNS assay.
