As shown in Tab.4,when the remaining dry matter content was the same, the NDF content by outdoor drying in the sun was the highest, significantly higher than those by the rest two drying methods except for 70 g(P<0.05).The NDF content by solar drying was the lowest;the NDF content through solar drying were 11.63%,19.35%,9.08%,15.05%and 27.25%lower than outdoor drying in the sun,and 4.84%,8.21%,6.46%,9.91%and 24.84%lower than outdoor drying in the shade, respectively. As the moisture content decreased under the same drying method, the NDF content of alfalfa increased.Compared to the control group, the NDF content via solar drying increased by 10.56%,19.05%,43.03%,61.30%and 72.9%,respectively;the NDF content via outdoor drying in the sun increased by 25.11%,47.62%,57.32%,69.87%and 137.66%,respectively;the NDF content via outdoor drying in the shade increased by 16.19%,29.7%,52.9%,79.05%and 130.04%,respectively.The results indicated that too high or too low temperature in drying process would cause cell death of alfalfa quickly, resulting in declined precipitation of pectin and cell plasma composition and declined fibrosis level of cell wall. This is consistent with the research by Li et al.[2].Certain amount of NDF in the diet is of great significance for maintaining normal fermentation of rumen, but too high NDF will have negative effect on the intake of dry matter.
