As can be seen in Table 3，while there were some noticeable gaps between four proficiency groups of L2 texts，the differences seemed minimal and inconsistent especially in terms of lexical density and sophistication.In both essays，the highest proficiency group did not exhibit the highest lexical density and sophistication.In essay 2，the values of the two measures even decreased with proficiency level，with the A2＿0 group producing the densest and most sophisticated vocabulary.Only the values of TTR measure roughly matched the proficiency level，with the B2＿0 group outperforming the other L2 groups.However，the result of one-way ANOVA revealed that the differences between four levels were nonsignificant in both essays.
