Seedlings with a root diameter between0.46~0.65 cm,which were initially pretreated at-5°C and then transferred to a higher temperature of0 or 5°C,showed distinct results,i.e.,the-5°C for30 d resulted in significant EBRs of 24.7%at 0°C and 31.5%at 5°C(P<0.05).In the temperature shift,treatments at-5°C prior to 0 or 5°C may promote early bolting(Table 4).A short pretreatment period at-5°C for approximate one month may promote the vernalization of Angelica,resulting in early bolting.
