In this study,we included 223 studies from the primary search. After reviewing titles and abstracts of all these studies,we excluded 207 studies that do not meet our inclusion criteria. After a full-text review of the rest of16 studies, only 4 studies met our inclusion criteria for this meta-analysis[6,13-15].The process is summarized in Figure 1.All studies with 5,362 patients with hidradenitis suppurativa and 23,193 participants with nonhidradenitis suppurativa were identified and included in the data analysis. Two cross-sectional studies and two case-control studies reported adjusted OR,but one study[15]by author Miller IM et al was consisted of 2cross-sectional design aspects and analyzed as 2studies for this meta-analysis(Miller IM a and Miller IM b).Two studies did reveal an increased risk of diabetes mellitus incidence among patients with hidradenitis suppurativa[14-15],However,but another two studies showed that there is no association between hidradenitis suppurativa and diabetes mellitus[6,13].Crosssectional studies had a total stars of 7(high quality,Shalom G et al[14]),4(medium-quality,Miller IM a[15])and 5(medium-quality,Miller IM b[15]),respectively.Case-control studies had a total stars of 5(mediumquality,Revuz JE[6])and 7(high quality,Shlyankevich J[13]).The clinical characteristics and NewcastleOttawa scales of these included studies are described in Table 1,Table 2 and Table 3.
