《Research on the Spatial Axis System of Xianyang in the Qin Dynasty Based on the Ancient Planning Tradition of Bianfang Zhengwei》
It can be found in literature documents that there are a series of spatial axes in Xianyang of Qin.According to the Basic Annals of the First Emperor of Qin,Shi Ji,when the political situation was basically stable after the Qin unified ancient China,Qin embarked on planning a new spatial pattern for Xianyang. The east and north axis systems centered on the Polar Temple were an important part. After the further territorial expansion in the thirty-third and thirtyfourth year of the First Emperor of Qin(214–213 BC),a south axis centered on Epang Palace was built to enrich and expand the Polar Temple axis system(see Table 1&Figure 1).This axis system consists of two dimensions:the state and the city. The former reached out to Shangqu besides the Eastern Sea and Jiuyuan to the south of the Great Wall in the north, with a total length of thousands of kilometers. However,it does not represent space alignment or structural control but the concept of spatial relations. The latter is within the scope of human perception and controls the city and regional space structure, which is also the main object of this paper(see Figure 2).
