Commercial AM60 alloy was used as raw material,and magnesium–cerium and magnesium–calcium alloys were used as intermediate alloys.The AM60 alloy was melted in a crucible resistance furnace followed by the addition of Mg-1%Ce and Mg-30%Ca intermediate alloys,and then solution treated at 750°C and stirred to ensure that the intermediate alloys were dissolved completely.The molten alloy was held at 720°C for 30 min,and poured into a mold at 710°C.The mold(12 mm×100 mm×200 mm)was pre-heated to 180–200°C.Melting and stirring were carried out under argon to avoid magnesium-alloy oxidation.The chemical compositions of the four studied alloys are listed in Table 1.
