The Langmuir and Freundlich modles for Pb and Cd ions were illustrated in Fig.2.Their constants and correlation coefficients were displayed in Table 3.Pb and Cd adsorption increased dramatically when equilibrium solution concentrations of Pb2+and Cd2+were low.Pb and Cd adsorption tended to be stable with further increases in the concentration of Pb2+and Cd2+of equilibrium solution.However,the aqueous equilibrium concentrations of Pb and Cd during adsorption with MBC were much higher than those of BC300,suggesting that the adsorption of Pb and Cd by BC300 mainly occurred through the physical adsorption process,and that there were more active sorption sites and free functional groups in MBC.The adsorption capacities of Pb and Cd by MBC were 175.53 and 42.00 mg g–1,respectively,which were larger than those of Pb and Cd by BC300(51.32 mg g–1 for Pb,and 23.23 mg g–1 for Cd,respectively).Although the shape of the adsorption isotherms for Pb and Cd were similar,the affinity of biochar for Pb and Cd was significantly different,probably due to sorption of Pb and Cd occurring in the different active sites and functional groups of biochar.
