《Properties of Chemically Synthesized Nano-geopolymer Cement based Self-Compacting Geopolymer Concrete(SCGC)》
Nano-geopolymer cement,sand and coarse aggregate were first dry mixed in a pan mixer for 3minutes,afterward alkali activator and water mixed with superplasticizer was added to the pan.The wet mixing was continued for 3 minutes.The concrete produced was able to compact under its own weight.Nine SCGC mixes were produced by varying the alkali activator content,binder content,coarse aggregate content and curing temperature.The mix proportions produced in this study are given in Table 1.The water to geopolymer solid ratio(W/S)ratio was obtained by dividing the total mass of water divided by total solid mass.The total mass of water in a mix was the sum of water in NaOH used and extra water added into the mix.The mass of solid was the sum of the mass of nano-geopolymer cement and mass of solids in NaOH.The W/S ratio for all the mixes was kept constant at 0.30.Based on the results from many trial mixes produced,the fine to coarse aggregate ratio was kept as 0.94 except for mixes S6 and S7,in which this ratio was decreased.The SP dosage was kept constant at12%for each mix.The SCGC mixes were evaluated for fresh properties,thereafter,were cast into cylindrical specimens of dimensions 10×20 cm according to standard procedures in ASTM C-31.Additional 10cm diameter×5 cm thick specimens were fabricated for chloride penetration test.The SCGC mixes with the molds were placed in a steam chamber at different temperatures viz.80,90 and 100℃.After 72 hours(3days)the specimens were removed from the specimens and were placed in the humid chamber for ambient curing for 7 and 28 days.
