The air quality index(AQI)of Lanzhou in December 2017ranked 71 among the 74 major monitored Chinese cities,reaching up to 481 because of the dusty weather.These concentrations typically record periodic“clean–polluted–clean”cycles for a few days.However,due to the unique climatic factors and geographical conditions,the PNC remains higher even in the normal weather;occasionally,the PNC sharply increases in a short time period.This phenomenon is termed“particulate matter explosive increase”and the cause of it deserves more studies in future.As shown in Table 1,the PNC(0.2μm
