Featured soil layer refers to the genetic soil layer that not only has a symbolic significance in classification，but also has an important impact on the agricultural and animal husbandry.According to the practical needs of Tibet’s agricultural and livestock production，only the featured soil layers such as the sod layer of the soil（such as meadow soil），lime concretion layer（calcium carbonate nodule layer）and peat horizon are selected as the basis for soil classification（Table 3）.When soils with these featured soil layers are divided，the featured soil layer factors should be considered in addition to the soil layer and soil texture configurations.
