The Cd concentrations in cytosol and debris components were significantly positively correlated with soil Cd concentration(p<0.001,Fig.4,Table 5).The microsomes, metallothioneins, heat stress proteins or other substances in cytosol fractions were more sensitive to combined metal elements, such as metallothionein binding with Cd,resulting in a decreased rate of Cd accumulation(Morgan et al.,2004;Homa et al.,2005;Liang et al.,2011;Lévêque et al.,2015).Debris fractions(tissues and cell membrane)have strong lipophilicity, and compounds bind with hydrophobic chemicals(Yu and Lanno,2010).Granules fractions, including organelles with physiological functions, have relatively low Cd contents because of the existence of Cd-detoxification mechanisms. However, soil Cu contents were only correlated with that in granule fractions(p<0.01,Table 5),which implied that earthworms rapidly excreted Cu because of the toxicity or lethality of Cu to earthworms(Sample et al.,1999;Spurgeon and Hopkin,1999),even in low content conditions.
