Different lowercase letters in the same column represented significant difference among the different successional stages (P<0.05)

There were large differences in C,N and P contents of plants and litter of the communities in the four successional stages(Table 2).Grass had much lower leaf C,N and P contents than the other three successional stages.Leaf C content was the highest in shrub,followed by primary forest and secondary forest.Leaf N did not significantly(P<0.05,the same below)differ among shrub,secondary forest and primary forest.Primary forests had the highest leaf P and there was no difference with shrub.There were no differences in litter C between the communities in the four successional stages.Secondary forest had the highest litter N and P.Litter P was the lowest in primary forest.Litter N followed the order:secondary forest>primary forest>shrub>grass.
