Comparison was made as to the thermal behaviour of neat PVB and PVB/silica fibres.Table 1 lists data on characteristic temperatures and total weight loss.The extrapolated onset temperature（Tonset），defined as the intercept of extrapolated starting mass with the tangent applied to the maximum slope of the TG curve，and Tmax，corresponding to the temperature of the peak maximum on the DTG curve，were evaluated according to the reference given[21].
