The photographic images of zone of inhibition against Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus are shown in Fig.10.All fabricated MMMs exhibited good activity against Bacillus subtilis,but the maximum activity was revealed by PSf/PI/MZ mixed matrix membrane.Superior structural integration of PSf,PI and MZ was responsible for better antibacterial activity.When observing the zone of inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus,no activity was observed for MZ,PSf/Z,PSf/MZ and PSf/PI/Z while PSf/PI/MZ revealed some activity.This may be due to well dispersed MZ nanofiller in the PSf/PI blend matrix.The results sustained and PSf/PI/MZ MMM revealed the best antibacterial activity against gram negative and gram positive bacteria among all fabricated mixed matrix membranes.The differences observed in inhibition zones against bacteria for MMMs are reported in Table 7.The results of antibacterial activity are plotted in Fig.S5(in ESI).
