《Geometric morphometric and molecular evidence suggest a new fruit fly species in Bactrocera(Zeugodacus) tau complex(Diptera: Tephritidae)》
*Parentheses represent ratios of males to total samples in percentage.
After the B.tau complex was separated from other insects by a taxonomic key(White&Elson-Harris,1992),two scutum color patterns(Fig.1)were designed as criteria for assigning them into two groups(Table 1).In the first group(Gr.I),the medial vitta was a yellow line along the sagittal plane, expanding posteriorly to the scutellum. In the second group(Gr.II),it was a yellow band with a black strip inserted in the presutural region, constricted posteriorly to form a sharp point. All grouped samples were individually labeled and preserved in 1.5 ml plastic vials in 70%ethanol.Samples of both Gr.I and Gr.II are deposited at the Department of Biology,Faculty of Science,Mahidol University in Bangkok,Thailand.
