The SFFT w as used to analyze the influence of oxygen plasma modification on the interfacial bonding properties of PI fibers. As show n in Fig.4(a),the morphology of the resin around the breakpoints of fiber w as hollow. And there w as no trace of strong action betw een untreated Suplonfiber and resin. That is to say,the untreated Suplonfiber had debonded and slipped in the matrix. It indicated that the poor interface compatibility betw een fiber and resin caused by the smooth and chemical inertness of Suplonfiber. In addition, the cracks at the oxygen plasma modified Suplonfiber breakages are show n in Fig.4(b),w hich indicated that the interface compatibility betw een the fiber and the resin became stronger. It can be further proved by the results as show n in Table 1,the critical length of PI fiber decreased from 276.41μm to 196.02μm after oxygen plasma modification. And the interfacial shear strength of treated fiber w as 54%higher than untreated fiber.
