《"Evaluation of a traditional method for peak flow discharge estimation for floods in the Wenchuan Earthquake area,Sichuan Province,China"》
Notes:Q1=peak debris flow discharge;Q2=water flood discharge before the debris flows occurred;Q3=water content in the debris flows with the assignment of flow density of 1.5 g/cm3.
In W-I,17 events(33.3%)were classified as induced by short-duration rainfall,20 events(39.2%),were classified as induced by mediumduration rainfall, and 14 events(27.5%)were induced by long-duration rainfall. The?rates were2.07,2.45 and 2.10 for the short-,medium-,and long-duration rainfall events, respectively. In Ergou,22(38.6%),21(36.8%),and 14(24.6%)events were induced by short-,medium-,and longduration rainfall events, and their corresponding?rates were 1.94,1.77 and 1.99,respectively.The mean overestimation rates for rainfall of different durations are listed in Table 5.These values indicate that all rainfall durations have potential to induce floods in this mountainous area, and that the overall the calculation is nearly twice overestimated.
