The field survey data of typical homegardens（Liu et al.2018），combined with the results from the present study，showed that the average area of homegardens in Western Sichuan Plain was6，678.87 m2，varying from 1，630 m2 to 12，385 m2（Table 1）.The vegetation coverage was 43.5-76.9%with high percentages of trees，shrubs and grassland，of which trees occupied the largest area Given the great differences in tree species，planting density，and tree age，the biomass per unit area also differed.In addition，evergreen trees were significantly different from deciduous trees in termsofbiomasscomposition.Actually homegardens were found to have a lower impervious surface area and higher coverage of mature trees.In contrast，in new rural communities of 300-800 households，the area of impervious substrate was large，with vegetation coverage below 25%.
