Figure 3 shows the microporous structure of the pulverized coals analyzed using nitrogen adsorption.The fi ner coal particles had a larger pore volume and a more complex pore size distribution.Thus,the fi ner the particle,the larger the specifi c surface area.The surface energy also caused a stronger adsorption of some matter[26].As for the pulverized coal,which is a kind of hydrophobic medium,a fi ner coal particle can adsorb more gases in the air,making it harder to be wetted by liquids[27].This was the reason why the contact angle of the 200 mesh particles was smaller than that of the 400 mesh particles(Table 3).Although with a more complex pore size distribution,the most probable aperture of the 400 mesh particles was nearly the same as that of the 200 mesh particles,revealing no direct correlation between the particle size and the pore size.
