Based on the different backbone structures,PVC and PU had different solubility in the same organic solvents.Five solvents have been investigated for dissolving 32samples in this experiment, and the results were displayed in Table 4.As show in Table 4,it indicated that all the samples had low solubility in acetic ether, even though they were immersed for 24 hours. On the contrary, most of samples could be dissolved in THF only within20 minutes. For those samples, acetic ether had very low solubility, and THF had very strong solubility, while both of them couldn’t be as identifying solvent. But cyclohexanone, dichloromethane and DMF exhibited selective solubility to 32 samples. In the cyclohexanone, samples PVC1~15 and PVCS had well solubility, except samples PU9,PU12 and PU15 showed partly solubility. The rests of the samples which were marked as PU were insoluble and decolored; In dichloromethane, compared with PU9,PU12 and PU15,samples PVC1~15transformed into floccules, and the rest of the samples only swelling; In DMF,except samples PU9,PU12 and PU15 have not been totally dissolved, other samples which were marked as PU were dissolved rapidly. All of samples marked as PVC were insoluble. However,it was worth mentioning that samples PU9,PU12 and PU15were always partially soluble in the three solvents(Fig.4PU9).
