Statistical analysis was performed to the test items of the soil samples before and after soil improvement(Table 1).As shown in Table 1,after planting M.officinalis, the chemical composition of the soil changed greatly. In addition to available P which decreased significantly(86.68%)and Ammonia-N which decreased slightly(1.97%),all other items increased significantly.By planting M.officinalis for soil improvement, the soil p H increased from 5.67 to 5.78,increasing by 1.94%;the exchangeable sodium ion increased from 0.20 to 0.36 cmol/kg,an increase of 80.00%;the total soluble salt increased from 43.95 to 83.36mg/L,an increase of 89.67%;K,Ca,Mg,Na increased by153.89%,124.96%,48.50%and 20.58%,respectively.The above data reflected salt increasing and deacidification effects of the soil. The total organic matter increased by 7.85%,and the hydrolysable N increased by 38.05%,indicating an increase in soil organic fertility. The available P decreased, which may be due to the lower background value of soil P in the area and the greater demand for P in the growth of M.officinalis.
