a) Specimen numbers were in accordance with those in Figure 5.

The trabecular arrangement largely influenced the mechanical properties of the distal femoral trabecular bone.BV/TV in VL1R was not significantly different from that in SPD.However,SMI and Tb.Th in VL1R and SPD showed significant differences,thereby resulting in significant differences in the mechanical properties of VL1R and SPD.Figure5 shows the typical microarchitectures of the rat distal femoral metaphysis from VL1R,VLNR,BCL and SPD.Table1 provides a list of their microarchitectural and mechanical parameters from which their differences can be easily determined in qualitative and quantitative manners.It indicated that VL1R can effectively increase the load-bearing capacity of rat distal femoral metaphysis with small amount of bone material and thin rod-like trabeculae.
