The higher fractal dimension(D)value of residue aggregates indicated a greater content of fine aggregates. The D of residue aggregates following different treatments is presented in Fig.2.With the addition of ameliorants, residue fractal dimension decreased.Unamended residue(B)had a low value of PRA1and a high value of PRA3,which resulted in a high D value(2.89).Following the addition of gypsum or vermicompost, the value of PRA1significantly increased and D decreased. The relevance of the results demonstrates that D was negatively correlated with MWD and PRA1(r=-0.958,and-0.959,respectively,p<0.01),whilst there was a significant correlation between fractal dimension and PRA2(r=-0.788,p<0.05)(Table 2) .As MWD was calculated by the diameter and mass percent of aggregate, the variety of MWD was mainly dependent on the mass percent of residue aggregate in large size. The correlation result showed that fractal dimension could be regarded as a potential indicator to quantify distribution characteristics of residue macroaggregate distribution and aggregate stability.
