Different lowercase letters following data within the same column indicate significant difference at 95%level，and different uppercase letters following data within the same row indicate significant difference at 95%level.

Under the low temperature treatment at 4℃，except germplasm T1，other five germplasms all showed cold injury symptoms after 0.5 d of treatment，among which four germplasms had cold tolerance of grade 3，and T6showed cold tolerance of grade 5（Table 5）.After 1 d of treatment，all the bitter gourd germplasms showed cold injury symptoms，among which one germplasm had cold tolerance of grade 3，two had cold tolerance of grade 5，and three had cold tolerance of grade 7，and the cold injury index was in the range of 30.32-89.65.After 2 d of treatment，the cold injury index values of the bitter gourd germplasms decreased compared with the values after 1 d of treatment，which might be a kind of adaptive response of bitter gourd to low-temperature cold injury.After 3 d of treatment，no germplasm was of grade 3，three germplasms had cold tolerance of grade 5，and three germplasms had cold tolerance of grade 7.After 5 d of treatment，no germplasm was grade 3，three germplasms had cold tolerance of grade 5，and three germplasms had cold tolerance of grade 7.And after 7 d of treatment，also，no germplasm was of grade 3，three germplasms had cold tolerance of grade 5，three germplasms had cold tolerance of grade 7，and among them，most buds of germplams T5and T6died.
