Chromone(or 1,4-benzopyrone),a structural isomer of coumarin,is a derivative of benzopyran with a substituted keto group on the pyran ring.Previous studies showed that 2-(2-phenylethyl)chromone type compounds were the characteristic chemical constituents of the resinous wood of A.sinensis[24].YANG et al.isolatedthirty-seven2-(2-phenylethyl)chromone derivatives(1-37)from the resinous wood, petioles and leaves of A.sinensis[2,8,9,17,22,25-29].Two new2-(2-phenylethyl)chromones whose protons at C8were both substituted by Cl-atoms,namely8-chloro-6-hydroxy-2-(2-phenylethyl)chromen-4-one(38)and 8-chloro-6-hydroxy-2-[2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-ethyl]chromen-4-one(39),were obtained from the resinous part of the herb[30].QUAN et al.reported the isolation of the first 2-(2-phenylethyl)chromone glycoside, aquilarinoside C(40),from A.senessis[31].In addition,a 2-(2-phenylethenyl)chromone,namely6-hydroxy-2-[2-(40-hydroxy-30-methoxyphenyl)ethe nyl]chromone(41),were isolated from the ethanolic extract of A.sinensis[22].The isolation,purification,andstructureelucidationoftwenty-five tetrahydro-2-(2-phenylethyl)chromones from the resinous part of A.sinensis were reported(42-67)[20,26,27,29,32,33].Li wei et al.isolated six epoxy-tetrahydro-2-(2-phenylethyl)chromones with only one epoxy group(68-73),along with three diepoxy-tetrahydro-2-(2-phenylethyl)chromones(74-76)[8,9].Two optical chromone enantiomers(77-78)with a chiral center at C-7’were isolated from the EtOAc extract of A.sinensis by using subsequent chiral HPLC on a CHIRAPAK IC column[9].YARURA et al.isolated twenty-two dimeric chromones(79-96),including four pairs of enantiomers(85a/85b,87a/87b,90a/90b,92a/92b)from MeOH extract of withered wood of A.sinensis[27,34,35].In conclusion, over one hundred chromone derivatives in total have been isolated and identified from A.sinensis.Their structures and chemical names were showed in figure 1 and table 1,respectively.
