In this part,three different grid resolutions(see the first three rows in Table 1)were used to simulate the flow on a computational domain 8πh×2h×4πh.The streamwise length is a little shorter than those used by Bech and Andersson[12]and Gai et al.[20],but it is twice of the length used by Salewski and Eckhardt[19].In the next subsection,we will show that the streamwise length 8πh is enough to get a reasonable statistics.All the statistics are obtained from the flow fields at the last 250h/Uw.In the present study,the case Base has a grid resolution of 256×71×256,and the corresponding grid spacings in wall parallel directions in wall units are around8.51 and 4.26,which are smaller or comparable to those used in the direct numerical simulation of turbulent channel flows[23,24]and plane Couette flow[25].The grid is refined in all three directions for cases BF1 and BF2.Therefore,all three grids fulfill the resolution requirements for DNS.
