Values are mean±standard deviation from three replications.

Samples were collected after precipitation on those days.The moisture content of the pile ranged from 60 to65%after precipitation(Table 1).Precipitation also lowered the temperature of the pile during storage period.Both the high moisture content and low temperature can reduce the degradation of organic matter by reducing biological activity.This phenomenon was in line with the results from Zang et al.(2016),who obtained moisture contents between 60 and 75%during pig manure composting.The researchers inferred that a moisture content of above 65%limits oxygen diffusion,thereby decreasing microbial activity and subsequent heat generation;as a result,the compost does not reach 50°C.
