Baosteel ship clad plate（2205+DH36）was evaluated using a submerged arc welding（SAW）process.Table 1 lists the chemical composition of the welded test plate，in which the base layer was 9 mm thick and the alloy layer was 3.2 mm thick.The groove of the test plate is shown in Fig.1.The alloy layer was welded with stainless steel wire，and the base layer on the opposite side was welded with carbon steel wire.Considering the possible dilution of the carbon steel layer，ER2209 wire with a higher Ni content than 2205 stainless steel was used to weld the alloy layer.
