Patient characteristics are summarized in Table 1.The three groups did not show significant differences in age,sex,education level,or controlled vascular risk factors,except for treated for hypercholesterolemia(F=1.222;P<0.05).Further,National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)scores did not differ between the two patient groups(moyamoya disease vs.cerebrovascular atherosclerotic disease:1.5±1.8 vs.1.8±1.7;z=0.676,P=0.499).
