Current Situation and Previous Programs Interventions During the past decade，various research have collected the data on prevalence and reasons of blindness and low vision in Iran.In a study on over 50-year-old population of Varamin city which was conducted by Eye Research Center of Shahid Behesti University of Medical Sciences in collaboration with WHO，it was found that about 10%of total population and16.39%of the studied population suffer blindness or low vision.In that study，the prevalence of two-sided blindness among over 50-and over 60-year-old age groups were 1.3%and 2.07%，respectively.According to other studies，the situation is worse in the deprived areas of the country，so that prevalence of two-sided blindness among over 60-year-old age group in Sistan&Baloochestan and Khorasan provinces were12.4%and 9.2%，respectively.Table 3 shows indicators of Iranians’eye health.
