The results are listed in Table 7.The granulation performances of blends were markedly improved when bentonite was added in the iron ore blends.With the bentonite content being increased from 0wt%to 0.4wt%,the PI of the bed increased from 53.93 to 64.97 JPU.The size of bentonite is very fine with 96.64wt%smaller than 0.05 mm.After fully dispersed in blend,bentonite was filled in the space between specularite particles and limonite particles.Bentonite changed into colloidal particles after absorbing water improved the molecular binding forces between CSC particles,thus promoting the adhesion of CSC particles.However,the granulation performance of the blends containing a high ratio of CSC particles starts to degrade when the bentonite dosage was above 1.2wt%.If the bentonite content increases above 1.2wt%,CSC particles and other adhering particles are easy to fall off in the process of rolling down during granulation[22].Furthermore,the excess bentonite in the blends results in higher contents of silicon and aluminum and a lower iron grade of sinter product because of the high silicate and alumina contents in bentonite.Therefore,the optimum dosage of bentonite is suggested between 0.4wt%and 0.8wt%.
