Five clayey sediment samples were collected for AMS14C dating from the deformation layers on fresh lacustrine sediment profiles. The sediment samples were treated with HCL(0.5 M)and Na OH(0.1 M)to remove encrusted carbonate and humic substance contamination, respectively, then HCL(0.5 M)at 60°C to release any modern CO2 absorbed from air during the base step(Olsson,1986).The pretreated 2–5 mg samples were placed in preheated quartz tubes(950°C)together with preheated Cu O(950°C)and silver wire(450°C).The quartz tubes were then combusted in a muffle furnace for16 h at 400°C.The CO2 was reduced catalytically to graphite over cobalt in the presence of hydrogen using the method described in Vogel et al.(1987),and the mixture was pressed onto copper discs for AMS analysis. All samples were measured at the School of Archaeology andMuseology at Peking University.Radiocarbon ages were calculated using the Libby half–life of 5568 years and the calibrated ages were calculated using Ox Cal v4.2.4(Bronk Ramsey,2013)with the Int Cal 13 atmospheric curve(Reimer et al.,2013).The results are listed in Table 1 and Fig.4.
