Correlation coefficients of major elements(Table 2)show negative correlation between Al2O3 and Ca O(r=-0.96),which could be due to the inadequate feldspars or the Al2O3 introduced to the lake by river transportation.The positive correlation between Al2O3 and K2O(r=0.93)can be related to the presence of muscovite,illite and chlorite in the area.Positive correlation between Fe2O3with Ti O2(r=0.94)and Ti O2 with Mg O(r=0.63)in sediments might be due to the similar geochemical behavior in this environment and the mafic minerals such as hornblende and augite produced by mafic volcanic rocks and weathered gabbro intrusions in north of the lake.
