Soil samples were collected from coking production areas(116°07′E–116°14′E,39°53′N–39°59′N)at a large-sized steel mill in Beijing,China.Upon collection,the soil samples were homogenized and sieved(20-mesh sieve)to assure uniformity,freeze-dried(LGJ-10D,Four-Ring Science Instrument Plant,Beijing,Co.,China),and stored in a refrigerator(4°C)until used.Preliminary testing of the soils indicated the following:As,28.5 mg/kg;Cd,0.35 mg/kg;Cu,37 mg/kg;Pb,174 mg/kg,Cr,60 mg/kg,Zn,201 mg/kg,pH,8.27,total organic content in soil,2.0%,respectively.The total concentration of16 USEPA priority PAHs in the soil tested was 1428 mg/kg,as shown in Table 1.
