As shown in Table 2,the growth period of pepper in the continuous cropping treatment groups extended,and it extended with the extension of continuous cropping duration.The growth period of pepper in the A treatment group(continuous cropping of pepper for 3 years)was the shortest,3 d longer than that of the control.The growth period of pepper in the D treatment group(continuous cropping of pepper for 15 years)was the longest,21 d longer than that of the control.During the growth process,the leaf area coefficient of pepper in the continuous cropping treatment groups was all smaller than that of the control.With the extension of continuous cropping duration,it tended to decline.The leaf area coefficient in the D treatment group was the smallest(3.10),1.93 smaller than that of the control;and the leaf area coefficient of the other treatment groups was 0.48-1.64smaller than that of the control.The plant height in the continuous cropping treatment groups was all lower than that of the control.Among them,the plant height of pepper in the D treatment group was the lowest(52.17 cm),17.88 cm lower than that of the control;and the plant height of pepper in the other treatment groups was 1.17-11.36 cm lower than that of the control.The stem diameter in the treatment groups was all smaller than that of the control.With the extension of continuous cropping duration,it tended to decline.Among the treatment groups,the stem diameter in the D treatment group was the smallest(0.51 cm),0.37 cm smaller than that of the control;and the stem diameter in the other treatment groups was 0.06-0.23 cm smaller than that of the control.The inhibitory effect of continuous cropping on the plant height and stem diameter of pepper was more obvious after the flowering of the pepper,and the intensity of the inhibitory effect among different groups ranked as CK>A>B>C>D.The branching number in the treatment groups was smaller than that of the control,and it tended to decline with the extension of continuous cropping duration.Among the treatment groups,the branching number in the D treatment group was the smallest(4),4 smaller than that of the control;and the branching number in the other treatment groups was 1-3 smaller than that of the control.The average plant weight in the treatment groups was also lower than that of the control,and it tended to decline with the extension of continuous cropping duration.Among the treatment groups,the plant weight of the D treatment group was the lowest(144.38 g),65.80 g lower than that of the control;and the plant weight in the other treatment groups was 12.94-40.20 g lower than that of the control.The yield of pepper in the continuous cropping treatment groups was also lower than that of the control,and it tended to decline with the extension of continuous cropping duration.Among the treatment groups,the yield of pepper in the D treatment group was the lowest(4.6 t/ha),17.9 t/ha lower than that of the control;and the yield in the other treatment groups was 4.5-15.3 t/ha lower than that of the control.It could be seen that the shorter the growth period of pepper was,the greater the leaf area coefficient was,the more vigorous the pepper growth was,and the higher the plant weight was,and the higher the yield was.It suggested that continuous cropping soil inhibited the growth of pepper,resulting in reduced plant height and stem diameter.The growth of pepper growing in the soil that had been planted with pepper for three continuous years was obviously better than that growing in the soil that had been planted with pepper for a longer time.The longer the continuous cropping duration was,the weaker the pepper growth was.
