As can be seen from Figure 3 and Table 3，the employment attraction of the central city is the strongest，which has far exceeded its geographical scope.As the distance from the central city increases，the proportion of residents working in the central city drops.The main scope of employment influence of each suburban new town is within the district/county administrative area.Among them，Baoshan and Minhang new towns that are close to the central city have similar characteristics.Baoshan New Town has a smaller scope of employment influence，only 38.5%of the Baoshan District，and most northern Baoshan District has become the scope of employment influence of the central city.The northern and eastern Minhang New Town have also become the scope of employment influence of the central city，and the scope of employment influence of Minhang New Town accounts for only 55.4%of Minhang District.Although the scope of employment influence of Lingang New Town which is located in southeastern Shanghai has expanded to the neighboring Fengxian District，it is still generally confined to the new town.The northern part of the former Nanhui District that Nanhui New Town is located in has become the scope of employment influence of the central city.The scope of employment influence of Lingang New Town accounts for 51.6%of Nanhui District.Compared to the new towns close to the central city，the scope of employment influence of Jiading New Town is the largest（91.8%）in its administrative area，while the scope of employment influence of the central city is smallest in Jiading District.Most of Qingpu，Songjiang，and Fengxian districts are still within the scope of employment influence of their own towns，and the area that is within the scope of employment influence of the central city accounts for a small proportion.
