《Application of cloud multi-spectral radiances in revealing cloud physical structures》
The footprint of MODIS is about 10 km(along-track)by 2330 km(across-track).MODIS measures radiance at 36 spectral bands ranging from 0.4 to 14.4μm(Ackerman et al.,2008;Frey et al.,2008).There are 22 spectral bands that can be utilized to explore optical and physical properties(e.g.,height,depth,water path)of clouds.These 22 wavebands cover the visible,near-infrared,and thermal infrared bands(see Table 1).The spatial resolution of radiance in wavebands 1 and 2 is 250 m,500 m in wavebands 3–7,and 1 km in wavebands 8–36.Radiances at waveband 6 are unreliable because of noise problems.
