Measurements of homogenization temperature of fluid inclusions within low-temperature halite often involves freezing halite samples for 3 days to 4 weeks at-10–-20℃(Table 1).Although the cooling-nucleation method was widely used, the most appropriate cooling time and conditions have not been documented. In this study, halite cleavage fragments of laboratory-grown crystals were cooled in the heating/freezing stage for 40–50 minutes at-18℃,or frozen in a freezer for 1,10,20 and 40 days,respectively,at-18℃.The homogenization temperatures of fluid inclusions in halite samples prepared with these two methods were then measured and compared,to determine the optimum cooling-nucleation procedure for halite samples.
