《Quantitative impact of mating duration on reproduction and offspring sex ratio of Phytoseiulus persimilis(Acari: Phytoseiidae)》
1) This is the mean timing of a single complete mating.
Impact of mating duration on P.persimilis offspring sex sequence,cumulative fecundity,and proportion of female offspring were summarized in Table 2.Offspring sex sequence and proportion of female offspring were not calculated for females mated for 15 min due to low fecundity(<1 egg per female).No significant impact of mating duration on offspring sex sequence was observed(df=5,75;P=0.17).Significant impact of mating duration on cumulative fecundity(df=6,241;P<0.001)and proportion of female offspring(df=6,224;P<0.001)were observed.Cumulative fecundity increased with increasing mating duration,but was not significantly different between those that had single or multiple complete matings.Females mated for 15 or 30 min produced lower proportions of female offspring than those mated longer.For females mated no shorter than 60 min,no significant difference in their offspring sex ratios were observed.
