Note:*Limit for non-hazardous wastes:5 mg/L.

After the experiments of adsorption at different p H levels, all the adsorbents were filtered by deionized water three times at an L/S of 100.The results showed that the concentration of As(III)in wash water was less than 0.1 mg/L,which meant that the adsorbed As(III)could not be eluted by water. The stability of the residues bearing As(III)was also evaluated by TCLP tests. The results involving adsorption capacity of the sample at different p H values and concentrations of As in the leaching solution are shown in Table 4.The findings indicated that all the adsorption capacities were almost the same, all the residues were extremely stable, and the concentration of arsenic in all leaching solutions was less than 0.01 mg/L.Thus,we can conclude that the residues can be stockpiled safely.Furthermore, the concentration of As(III)for the residue obtained at low equilibrium p H values shows greater stability than that at high p H values, which could be attributed to the solubility of Fe-As compounds;normally, the Fe-As compounds are more stable in weakly acidic conditions but exhibit poor stability in alkaline conditions[33].
