Changes in fresh weight of vegetable seedlings reflect the conversion and consumption of nutrients in seedlings during the storage process[7].When the light source was a fluorescent lamp, there was no significant change in the shoot fresh weight of pepper seedlings in treatments T6F12P15 and T11F12P30 in the whole storage period. As light intensity was 30μmol/(m2·s),there was also no significant change in the root fresh weight of pepper seedlings before and after storage(Table 2).When the light source was LED,temperature and photoperiod were 6℃and24 h/d,there was no significant change in the shoot fresh weightwith the extension of storage time. However, the shoot and root fresh weights reduced by 20%and 30%respectively in treatment T6L12P15.The reason for the decrease in biomass of pepper seedlings before and after low temperature and low light storage was that pepper seedlings could not absorb nutrients from the matrix at low temperature, thus consuming too much nutrients of the seedlings themselves. The change of fresh weight of seedlings reflects the change of quality of seedlings in the storage and transportation period to a certain extent, which is related to\""stress-induced physiological decay\""caused by the sudden change of environmental conditions for the normal growth and development of seedlings.Low temperature stress and water stress are the main external causes of quality decline of seedlings in the storage and transportation period, showing that the environmental conditions are adverse to the storage of pepper seedlings[8].When temperature was 11℃,the shoot fresh weight increased after storage in all treatments. In the whole storage period, there was no significant change in the shoot and root fresh weights in treatment T11L24P15,indicating that under the condition of continuous illumination at 11℃,the poor light storage environment near the light compensation point was conducive to the maintaining of quality of pepper seedlings[9].
