Figure 13 presents the impact and yield strength of CIM,VIM I and VIM II samples.VIM II presented a 39%improvement in yield strength and 416%in impact strength compared with those of CIM.This improvement must be related to the increased content of shish-kebab as it is a self-reinforced structure that can simultaneously improve tensile strength,impact strength,modulus,stiffness,and thermal stability.Content of shish-kebab is represented by R,i.e.,the thickness ratio of shear layer(composed of shish-kebab)to the whole sample.R is calculated from Fig.2,and values are shown in Table 2.Compared with our previous research,impact strength did not exceed 19 k J/m2 even when R was 0.97[32].Therefore,this result implies strong relation of improved impact strength to the multilayer structure.
